Meet Entertainer Reggie Watkins

Ask our diners what makes Buck’s so special and they’ll all tell you that it’s the environment we’ve curated in our dining room. From our continental menu and artfully mismatched china to our signature moonflowers, the atmosphere at Buck’s is second-to-none. And one of the most iconic elements to that atmosphere is our nightly live piano music, provided by the extremely talented Reggie Watkins.

Reggie’s childhood was steeped in music, from Sundays at church to rides in his dad’s truck. “I’ve always had a strong connection to music,” says Reggie. “I used to pretend I was the producer who created the songs I was listening to.” His early musical influences run the gamut from smooth jazz to Lil Wayne, from Carla Golightly to Prince, and when the pianist at his church started offering lessons, Reggie’s mom knew it was important for him to attend. “I’ve been playing ever since, and my former teacher is now my mentor and good friend.”

The power of the piano has given Reggie some wonderful memories along the way. “I had the privilege of opening for Teddy Abrams at Norton’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and it meant so much to me to meet him and hear him perform live.” Given the opportunity to craft his dream concert, Reggie says he’d perform at Carnegie Hall with all his friends and family there to share the evening. “It’s been a dream of mine to play there for as long as I’ve been playing piano.”

Reggie’s passion for piano and his strong relationship to his music shines through every night at Buck’s. “It’s a special thing when you have a superpower to call your own, and I don’t take it for granted,” he says. “I love getting to make personal connections with the diners and being a part of their special day or occasion.”
